the mystic
Sara Dacombe is a recovering evangelical who is also a writer, web designer, community advocate, Spiritual Director and officiant living in the heart of the rural prairies – the buckle in the Bible belt of Canada, near Landmark, Manitoba. Her background in communications and journalism launched a career that spanned three levels of government, higher education, and Christian ministry before faith deconstruction led her down another path. As a writer, she takes an autoethnographic approach to processing and speaking about evangelical Mennonite history and traditions. As a certified Spiritual Director, Sara participates in interfaith dialogue with local groups and uses a contemplative approach to work with people to explore their experiences of the Sacred.

the SKEPTIC
Daniel Dacombe is a secular humanist, writer, public speaker, and PhD candidate studying religious deconversion and deidentification. Since 2020 he has been an active member and volunteer at Humanist Canada, and for the past two years has been a host of The Voice of Canadian Humanism podcast. In 2026 he was a speaker at the World Humanist Congress in Ottawa, Canada, an event that brought together 500 delegates from over 40 countries. His background as a former seminary student, ministry professional, and Christian speaker gives him a unique perspective on religious belief and behaviour and informs his work with academics, advocates, and other experts in the fields of religion and secularism. He is passionate about interfaith dialogue with people who share values with humanism and are willing to work together for the benefit of humanity’s shared future.
the MARRIAGE
Together, they have been married for nearly 25 years and led Christian ministry for over 15 of those years before deconstructing their faith – following their respective paths of mysticism and skepticism. Today, Daniel and Sara are parents to two teenagers, active members of interfaith groups, and advocates for individuals, couples, and families who want to grow well together through the many stages of life.
